Competing at NFL Super Regional Combine

On Friday I participated in the NFL Super Regional Combine at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan in front of scouts from all 32 NFL teams and was very pleased with my performance.

I was impressed by the group of kickers that were selected at the combine and I left the competition knowing I was in the top group of kickers that competed. I made 4 of 6 field goals with two misses by a foot left from 45 and 55 yards and made kicks of 50 and 55 yards. My kickoffs were at the goal line or in the endzone with hang time above 4 seconds.

There were 11 other kickers that performed at the event including kickers that were signed by the Patriots and Buccaneers last year and also 5 upcoming rookie kickers that would have strongly rivaled the kickers at the NFL combine including Mel Kiper's #1 ranked kicker Greg Zuerlien of Missouri Western University.

The combine was at a top notch facility at Ford Field and Under Armour sponsored the equipment. We got this Under Armour combine jersey (pictured above) , combine shorts, and an Under Armour bag. This was the same equipment used at the actual NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Some of the kickers who I also thought had great performances were Josh Jasper (LSU all time field goal percentage leader) ,who kicked off very well and Greg Zuerlein who made all of his field goals, even though his 55 yard kick would surely have been blocked. Greg showed why he was so successful this past year at making long field goals. This season at Missouri Western he was 8-8 from 50 yards and longer!

Overall it was a great experience for me to compete against the best kickers in the country at an NFL stadium. I am continuing to build my resume as a PRO kicker and I believe I am getting closer to my ultimate goal of getting an opportunity on an NFL team.
