I started working with George in 2007 when he was in the 8th grade. He was the third kicker I ever trained with the other two being Southern Miss kicker Corey Acosta and UAB kicker Ty Long.
George always had a very strong leg even as an 8th grader and I worked with him on his kicking fundamentals. We worked together up until last August and I would do approximately 4-5 lessons each Summer with him. He was always a hard worker and I am very excited that he has earned this opportunity for himself.
This Spring and Summer he took the initiative to get the necessary exposure to get a scholarship by attending the Kohl's and Sailer Kicking Camps and a few other places for exposure. Both Jamie Kohl and Chris Sailer are excellent kicking coaches but what they are best known for is their exposure camps.
Chris Sailer ranked George as the 29th best kicker in the country and Jamie Kohl ranked George as the 18th best kicker with a 5 star ranking on kickoffs. Click here for his profile on Kohl's website http://kohlskicking.com/profile/george-bullock/2421/ .
I believe that Jamie Kohl's evaluation of George is very accurate. He has one of the strongest legs of anyone in the 2012 kicking class and I believe he will be an immediate upgrade for Tennessee on kickoffs. He might need a few years to develop as a field goal kicker while he transitions to kicking off the ground for college.
Most Vol fans should temper their expectations a bit for George next year and not expect touchbacks every time. Right now he is kicking his kickoffs 70-75 yards with an older worn in football. He will be using a newer Wilson GST football for Tennessee which will reduce some distance on his kicks. I think it is fair to believe he can kick his kickoffs inside the 5 yard line with 3.9-4.1 hang time next year.
We will see if George can exceed my expectations...
I have so many great memories of kicking in Neyland Stadium for the Vols and I am proud to have played a part in George reaching his dream of playing at Tennessee.
Just like former Vol kicking great Jeff Hall was a great resource to me during my career, I hope to help George in any way I can!
