I ask Ryan to start off the lesson by kicking some short field goals. He kicked a couple good kicks but also a couple of stray bullets. I saw some things in his approach and foot contact that could be improved. Foot contact on the ball is one of the most important parts in kicking and as you can see in the picture (below) Ryan is working with me on finding his proper foot position.
I really saw some improvement in Ryan on the second day. He had been working on the drills at home and I could definitely see the difference as his accuracy and distance were much better. I also recommended for Ryan to improve his leg speed. Jumping rope along with running stadium steps can help improve leg speed along with doing fast twitch lifting movements.
It was great working with Ryan and I hope he has lots of success in his pursuit to be the starting kicker and punter at Germantown. The drills he learned in the lessons will bring him much closer to his goal and I feel confident he will follow through with those.
