Phillip Houston (Harding Academy)

On Sunday and Monday Phillip Houston (Harding Academy) received some One on One Kicking Instruction. Phillip is looking to be the starting kicker this year and wanted to get proper instruction before his season. As you can see in the picture (above) Phillip is a big University of Tennessee fan and I was impressed with the shirt!

Phillip had received very little instruction and so he had very few bad habits to break. I worked with him on walking down the field and keeping his chest up with his follow through. Phillip was a quick study and after some brief instruction I could see dramatic improvement with his field goals. I moved him around to different hashes and he did quite well.

The next step was working on kickoffs. In the picture (above) you can see Phillip doing the perfect follow through on his kickoff as his chest his up and his eyes are following the flight of the ball. He did a great job learning a new technique and he was very enthusiastic to learn.

I want to wish Phillip the best this season. He was very easy to teach and a joy to coach. My advice to him is to keep working hard and to work on that foot position. I expect to see Phillip kicking field goals for his team this season and having great success.
